A spectacular vintage 8-day mechanical Black Forest cuckoo clock featuring a large, highly detailed chalet scene filled with traditional German character and animation.
This impressive clock features a rustic Alpine chalet with colorful flower boxes, shuttered windows, a large balcony with dancing figures, and a traditional Roman numeral dial. The lower scene is especially charming, with an animated woodchopper, large waterwheel, stacked firewood, evergreen details, and a faithful dog beside the woodsman.
Powered by a traditional 8-day mechanical movement, the clock requires winding approximately once a week. Three substantial pinecone weights operate the clock, cuckoo, and musical and animated functions.
The combination of its substantial chalet case, multiple animated features, music, detailed figurines, and 8-day movement makes this an especially impressive Black Forest cuckoo clock. It is a wonderful centerpiece for a collection and a clock that truly comes alive when operating.
